About The Book: Mommy, Mommy, why am I so different? is a story about a seven- year- old girl, named Africa Jones who becomes inquisitive about her appearance after being teased by her new classmates. It’s not until Africa has a conversation with her mother that she understands her history, her appearance and her existence. Mommy, Mommy, why am I so different? is a story about learning to know one’s existence while developing one’s self esteem. The book highlights African civilization, Black history, Black empowerment, self-esteem, inclusiveness, God (higher power), Afro Christianity and Afro religious principles. The moral of the story comes down to having thankfulness and pride.
